An accent wall is a beautiful and inexpensive way to add some personality and custom style to any room in your home. Here I added one to our primary bedroom.
There are so many options when it comes to accent walls, way back it was simply painting an exciting pop of color to a single wall, today we are adding board and batten, wainscoting, wood slats, hand painted murals, wallpaper, picture collages, etc. Whatever you choose for your accent wall it’s important that it accents the space, not overwhelm it.
First is choosing the right wall. Where does your eye immediately go when entering the room? Do you have a boring blank wall that needs a little interest?
Maybe a large wall or long hallway that needs to make a statement.
In this space I choose our headboard wall, which is also the wall your eye is drawn to first when entering. I went with a simple board and batten rectangle/square design from floor to ceiling.
Once you have chosen your wall and design you need to think color. Our main walls are painted in Sherwin Williams Snowbound with pure white trim so I wanted something bold and went with Sherwin Williams Peppercorn. Since we have an ample amount of natural lighting in this room it adds the perfect amount of moodiness without a cold cave feel and brings a cohesiveness with our primary bathroom renovation I shared in a previous post.
